FFANZ Nominations will open in October

Care for a trip to New Zealand at Easter next year? Nominations will be opening in October for the 2015 FFANZ race (Fan Fund of Australian and New Zealand), and we will be looking for an Australian fan of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror to attend our NatCon, Reconnaissance, in Rotorua. The fund contributes towards flights and accommodation, and the successful candidate will be welcomed with open arms, sit on panels and be made a fuss of while they’re there. If you’re interested and would like more details, please contact Dan Rabarts at rabarts@gmail.com.

Story Critiques

Multi-award winning editors Dan Rabarts and Lee Murray are offering story critiques for interested writers, with funds raised going to the FFANZ fund for 2015. Dan was the FFANZ delegate for 2014, and attended Continuum X in Melbourne. Next year’s fund will pay for an Australian fan to travel to New Zealand and attend the NZ National Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention, Reconnaissance, in Rotorua over Easter weekend. Between them, Dan and Lee have won a total of five Sir Julius Vogel Awards, one Australian Shadows Award, and have placed in international short story competitions, including the SQ Mag Short Story Contest 2013 and the AHWA/Melbourne Zombie Con Short Story Contest 2013. A critique for a story of up to 3000 words is $50, while a critique of a story up to 6000 words is $100. Alternatively, they will review your opening novel chapters, up to 6000 words, for $100. This will be an in-depth review and line edit, with a follow-up email to discuss the story or chapters in more detail if required.
